Study on Performance Improvement of Sodium Acetate Trihydrate in Thermal Energy Storage System by Disturbance

Phase change materials (PCM) have been widely used in Thermal Energy Storage (TES) Systems. Considering the energy efficiency and use of domestic hot water, melting temperature range phase is considered to be optimal 50–60 °C. The most commonly sodium acetate trihydrate-based material, which has advantages high latent heat low price, but its supercooling, thermal conductivity, separation affect application. Therefore, this paper trihydrate, disodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate (DSP), expanded graphite (EG) as raw prepare composite (CPCM) physical disturbance further improve their properties. Firstly, thermophysical properties were investigated by step cooling curve method, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), x-ray diffraction (XRD). Secondly, order evaluate effect on CPCM crystallization, experimental studies carried out adjusting rotor mass rotational speed. results showed that when 1.5 wt.% DSP, EG perturbation work together, transition 56.7 °C, 258.98 kJ/kg. At time, conductivity increased from 0.62 w/m·k 1.1625 w/m·k, subcooling degree decreased above 20 °C less than 0.5 no occurred. greater momentum (the or speed), shorter induction more conducive crystallization CPCM. obtained are instructive for preparation efficient new CPCMs.
